In Jinlong village, Daguan town of Nanchuan district in Chongqing, thousands of pink cherry blossoms have bloomed against a backdrop of golden rapeseed fields, captivating visitors who flock to capture the spring scenery.
The Cherry Blossom Festival recently launched events such as a float parade, cultural and creative market, parent-child interactions, and a village song contest to enhance visitor enjoyment. "I love the countryside in springtime," said Huang Hua, a visitor from a nearby city. "It is so colorful and relaxing."
China's rural tourism sites have seen surging holiday visitors, driven by growing interest in farming culture, which generates additional income for local farmers. Nanchuan district, with its abundant natural resources, fine ecology, and accessible transport, has merged agriculture and tourism, earning recognition as a national model for rural tourism and recreational agriculture.
In 2022, Jinlong village was named one of the "national key villages for rural tourism" by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for transforming traditional farming into a modern leisure sector. "In the past, we planted crops such as rice, corn and potato," said Luo Chunlan, the village's Party secretary. "Now tourism creates more jobs for us and makes our village more beautiful."
Local farmers have launched restaurants, tea stalls and coffee shops, while the scenic countryside has drawn investors to develop boutique homestays.
