Kunming's 20,000 jacaranda trees paint city purple

More than 20,000 jacaranda trees are now in full bloom across Kunming in Yunnan province, creating a striking purple landscape. Jiaochang Middle Road stands out as the top viewing spot.

Local authorities report that over 20,000 jacaranda trees have been planted throughout Kunming. The peak blooming period runs from late April to mid-May each year.

Hundreds of the trees line Jiaochang Middle Road for two kilometers, their canopies forming a sea of purple blossoms. Gentle winds send bluish-purple petals fluttering down to carpet the street below.
