The construction progress of the State Mosque in Indonesia's new capital, IKN, has reached 98.4 percent, according to IKN Authority Head Basuki Hadimuljono. The mosque is projected to be ready for worship activities during this year's Ramadan. The Minister of Religious Affairs hopes the 2026 Eid al-Fitr prayer can be held there.
Penajam Paser Utara, VIVA – IKN Authority Head Basuki Hadimuljono stated that the construction progress of the State Mosque in Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) has reached about 98.4 percent. This was mentioned when questioned by reporters in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan Province, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
"The construction progress has reached around 98.4 percent, and there are still some interior details to be completed," said Basuki.
The mosque is built on a 32,125 square meter plot with a building area of 61,596 square meters. The State Mosque of IKN can accommodate more than 60,000 worshippers and is equipped with a retention pond. Its design combines modern and spiritual elements, with a dome resembling a sorban and a 99-meter tower representing the Asmaul Husna.
Basuki added that the mosque is projected to be usable for worship activities during this year's Ramadan, including Tarawih prayers. "The State Mosque of IKN is projected to be used in this year's Ramadan so that Tarawih prayer activities during this Ramadan can already be held at the State Mosque of IKN," he said.
Additionally, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar wishes for the Eid al-Fitr prayer this year to be held there. "Therefore, the State Mosque of IKN is also projected to be ready for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr prayer," Basuki added.
The State Mosque of IKN is also equipped with a digital library, meeting rooms, and commercial areas for local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), making it a center of civilization.
In the broader context of IKN development, Basuki also mentioned that the physical construction of the Vice President's Palace has reached 100 percent, with the current focus on procuring furniture and interiors.
