The murder of Gilberto Jesús Calao González has caused shock among local authorities and the country's institutional sector. According to the National Police, the attack occurred when the victim was intercepted by two armed men on a motorcycle, who shot him multiple times, causing his death at the scene.

“The National Police informs the public that, regrettably, in recent hours the homicide of Mr. Gilberto Calao González occurred, who served as Sectional Director of the DIAN in Tuluá,” the institution stated in an official communiqué.
