Eldrew Yulo claims double bronze at World Cup in Egypt

Eldrew Yulo, an 18-year-old Filipino gymnast, won two bronze medals in floor exercise and horizontal bar at the Cairo leg of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup on April 5 and 6. The achievements add to his three World Cup medals this series. They position him well for qualification to the World Championships in October.

In his first year as a senior, Eldrew Yulo shone at the Cairo leg of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Egypt. He earned bronze in the floor exercise final on Sunday, April 5, with a score of 14.0 points. He followed with another bronze in horizontal bar on Monday, April 6, scoring 13.733 points.

Russia's Daniel Marinov took gold in floor exercise with 14.233 points, while Arsenii Dukhno claimed silver at 14.133. In horizontal bar, China's Li Hongyan won gold (14.4 points) and Cyprus's Marios Georgiou silver (13.9 points). These mark Yulo's third World Cup medal, after gold in Antalya, Turkey, and sixth place in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Yulo leads the floor exercise standings in the World Cup series, boosting his chances for a top-eight spot per apparatus to qualify for the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands, in October. The series concludes in Osijek, Croatia, from April 9 to 12, according to Rappler.com.
