The Holy Synod plenary assembly of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church concluded today after seven days of meetings in Addis Ababa. The gathering addressed national peace, church unity, and human welfare, issuing several decisions.
The Holy Synod decided to strengthen the work of the National Peace and Church Unity Committee. This step aims to preserve the ancient and apostolic character of the church while safeguarding its sovereign dignity.
The assembly stressed that the upcoming seventh general election must proceed peacefully. It called for the vote to deliver lasting peace and stability for all Ethiopians.
The Synod also appealed to relevant authorities to protect the human rights of Ethiopians living abroad. The seven-day meeting in Addis Ababa wrapped up after broad discussions on national peace, church unity, and current affairs.
