Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed has wrapped up his official working visit to Azerbaijan, signing agreements to deepen ties in energy, investment, AI, and other sectors.

Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed concluded his official working visit to Azerbaijan on Ketit 21, 2018, returning to Addis Ababa after starting on Ketit 19. The trip aimed to bolster bilateral relations, building on recent growth including doubled trade volume, Azerbaijan's embassy in Addis Ababa, and links in aviation and investment.

Leader-level talks addressed energy, investment, agriculture, industry, defense, air transport reforms, and tourism. Foreign Minister Dr. Gedion Timothewos said the agreements 'can expand cooperation fields forward,' citing Azerbaijan's warm reception and shared advances in digital government services and artificial intelligence.

Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute Director Dr. Werqu Gachema confirmed collaboration plans in AI. The delegation toured Baku's technology hubs, including the AI Academy, gaining insights to support Ethiopia's Digital Ethiopia 2030 strategy. Discussions also shared Azerbaijan's COP29 experiences to prepare Ethiopia for COP32.
