Feminist fronts urge rejection of 'Escucha su corazón' bill

Women's vice presidencies and feminist fronts from seven parties called on Congress to reject debating the 'Escucha su corazón' bill. They argue the initiative would coerce women rather than inform them.

Women's vice presidencies and feminist fronts from the Socialist Party, Frente Amplio, Christian Democrat Party, Party for Democracy, Liberal Party, Radical Party and Communist Party issued a document titled 'Escuchen a las mujeres'. It demands respect for the three-causals agreement in Law 21.030.

The text states that the bill would turn an offer into a mandatory requirement. This would transform informed consent into a coercion mechanism, according to warnings from the Medical College and the World Health Organization.

The groups recalled that 6,249 women used the law between 2018 and 2025. They noted that about 85 percent maintained their decision and that 40.4 percent of public-sector obstetricians declare conscientious objection in the rape causal.

They asked the State to guarantee full implementation of the law and timely access nationwide. Chile does not need more barriers, they concluded.
