Florida mother arrested after autistic son found wandering alone

A 28-year-old mother in North Fort Myers was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with child neglect after her 5-year-old autistic son was discovered wandering naked and unsupervised along a residential road.

Yvana Miller left her son alone for about eight hours while working a shift at an assisted living facility in Cape Coral. Neighbors on Caterina Court contacted authorities on Wednesday after spotting the child, who was seen attempting to eat Styrofoam in a garage and appeared dehydrated. Deputies found no adults at the home, which had little furniture, minimal food and no running water.
