Guardia Civil probes chemical submission claims on student cruise

Ten students aged 15 and 16 from Ikasbidea ikastola in Durana have filed complaints alleging sexual assaults and possible drugging during a study trip aboard a Mediterranean cruise.

Two complaints were lodged last Wednesday with the Ertzaintza in Vitoria, while eight more were filed in Barcelona after the ship docked there. The Guardia Civil is examining whether a young couple may have slipped narcotic substances into the drinks of several girls to carry out non-consensual touching.

The Ertzaintza had already received reports about the alleged drugging of students during the trip. The girls shared their suspicions with their families after interacting with the couple.

Barcelona’s Guardia Civil unit is leading the inquiry in its judicial police role. A court in the Catalan capital will handle the proceedings.
