Iowa couple charged over alleged abuse of son

An Iowa couple faces multiple charges after authorities say they confined their 10-year-old son in a dark bedroom without food, water or medical care. The boy was later hospitalized for malnutrition and head injuries.

Andrew Warrington, 48, and Kellie Warrington, 47, were arrested Friday in Davenport and booked into the Scott County Jail. Each is held on a $2 million cash bond. They face charges of first-degree kidnapping, child endangerment, willful injury and neglect of a dependent person. Police responded on February 23 to the 1200 block of East Rusholme Street after receiving reports of child abuse. A months-long investigation found the boy had been locked in a bedroom with a latched door for extended periods. The room lacked furniture, light, bathroom access and other necessities. Medical staff told investigators the child could have died without hospital treatment. The couple has a court date set for June 16.
