Kenyan celebrities outline their Christmas plans

Kenyan celebrities and public figures have shared how they plan to celebrate Christmas this year, emphasizing family and gratitude. Many have chosen to spend time with loved ones at home or in the village, rather than usual work commitments. This reflects a season of returning to roots and engaging with the community.

For many Kenyans, Christmas is a time of rest and family reunion, and celebrities are embracing it in personal ways. Taifa Leo Dijitali spoke to several about their plans.

Singer Bien urged fans to prioritize family, especially in tough times. He recalled his childhood: “I remember singing Malako, a Christmas song often used in church contests. As kids, we sang and even won prizes.”

Content creator Milly Chebby will celebrate at her Kiambu home with close friends. Socialite Vera Sidika plans time with her family, including children, mother, and grandmother, and a visit to her birthplace in Kakamega County. “I will spend time with my family – my children, mother, and grandmother,” she said.

Journalist Willy M Tuva will start Christmas at church giving thanks, then visit the needy through his Mzazi Foundation, and finally join family. “For me, Christmas starts with church, gratitude, followed by visiting and sharing with the less fortunate through my foundation – Mzazi Foundation. I will also spend good time with my family,” he explained.

Content creator Kabi wa Jesus and Christine ‘Koku’ Lwanga will celebrate with family, with Kabi noting, “we have chosen an outing plan including visits with children.” Comedian Mulamwah stressed that Christmas is about people: “I use this season to reconnect with family and meet relatives and new people in our families.”

Gospel singer Daddy Owen is heading to the village for family, not work. “I'm going to the village, not for work, not to be seen, but for family,” he said, adding, “I plan to pass on every story, every name, every memory, so my children don't grow up disconnected from history.” This report is by Elizabeth Ngigi and Esther Intabo.
