Konami aims for annual Silent Hill game releases

Konami is planning to release about one Silent Hill title per year following the success of recent entries. Series producer Motoi Okamoto shared this ambition in a Famitsu interview, noting the franchise is back on track after Silent Hill 2's remake and Silent Hill f. Upcoming projects include a Silent Hill 1 remake and Silent Hill: Townfall.

The Silent Hill series, a staple of survival horror since its inception, had faced challenges in recent years with entries like the 2012's Downpour, which was forgettable, and 2023's interactive livestream Silent Hill: Ascension, which disappointed fans. However, the tide turned with the October 2024 release of the Silent Hill 2 remake, which was critically acclaimed and a bestseller, followed by Silent Hill f in September 2025.

In a Famitsu interview translated by Gematsu, producer Motoi Okamoto stated that the series is now "back on track." He outlined Konami's vision: "Including both announced and unannounced [Silent Hill games], we’re aiming for a release pace of about one title per year." Okamoto added, "I’m not sure how much of that we’ll be able to realize, but I’ll continue to do my best as producer of the Silent Hill series. Ideally, we’d like to keep excitement around the Silent Hill series going at all times. We’re working hard to share new updates, so I’d appreciate it if you could wait just a little longer."

This annual cadence includes confirmed projects like the Silent Hill 1 remake developed by Bloober Team and the mysterious Silent Hill: Townfall, potentially slated for 2026. Okamoto emphasized maintaining constant buzz around the franchise, suggesting a mix of remakes and new directions to sustain its foggy, terrifying legacy. While ambitious, this plan could revitalize the series if executed with the quality of recent releases.

Cosa dice la gente

X discussions highlight excitement for Konami's goal of one Silent Hill release per year after Silent Hill 2 remake and f successes. Influencers note the plan originated in 2019 with multiple studios involved, avoiding rushed single-game output. Skeptics express concerns over potential quality decline from annual cadence. Fans speculate on 2026 Townfall and future unannounced titles, urging patience.
