Maryland woman arrested after Taco Bell handgun threat

A 30-year-old Maryland woman was arrested after allegedly threatening Taco Bell employees with a handgun during a dispute over food wait times. The incident took place on June 18 at a location in Chester. Authorities charged her with multiple offenses including second-degree assault.

Ashley Andrews faces charges of second-degree assault, displaying a handgun, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment. Deputies responded to reports of a woman showing a firearm during an argument with staff at the Kent Town Market restaurant.

According to the Queen Anne's County Office of the Sheriff, Andrews told employees to meet her outside and lifted her shirt to display the weapon. A loaded firearm was recovered from her after she was taken into custody.

Surveillance footage and cellphone video confirmed the actions described by staff. Andrews posted $5,000 bail the day after her arrest and invoked her right to a speedy trial. Her trial is scheduled for July 23.
