Nubank names Livia Chanes new CEO for Latin America

Nubank announced the appointment of Livia Chanes as CEO for Latin America. The directors in Mexico and Colombia will report directly to her while she retains her role in Brazil.

The company said Chanes, who joined six years ago and has led Nu in Brazil since 2022, will now oversee the region. Armando Herrera in Mexico and Marcela Torres in Colombia will report directly to her.

The announcement comes as the firm reached 135 million clients worldwide and gained approval to operate as a full bank in Mexico. There, Nu achieved break-even in the first quarter of 2026 with 15 million customers.

In Brazil, Chanes added more than 50 million new clients. Founder and global CEO David Vélez called the move a natural step to speed regional growth.
