Security company Ring announced battery-powered versions of its high-resolution video doorbells on Wednesday, including a flagship 4K model. Ring expanded its video doorbell lineup on March 25, 2026, with battery-powered models featuring 4K and 2K resolutions. The Battery Doorbell Pro, priced at $250, provides 4K video and 10x zoom, supported by a redesigned internal architecture for efficient battery use. The Battery Doorbell Plus (2nd gen) costs $180 and includes 2K video with a quick-release battery pack. The entry-level Battery Doorbell (2nd gen) is $100, offering 2K video, 6x zoom, and a streamlined rechargeable design where the entire unit is removed for charging. A new wired 2K model starts at $80. Ring also introduced a Solar Charger for $50 and a larger Solar Panel for $60 to extend battery life without frequent recharges. These follow wired high-resolution doorbells launched by Ring and competitors like Google Nest in September 2025. A Ring spokesperson stated, “Enhancing image quality in battery-powered doorbells means customers can enjoy reliable performance with the flexibility to install devices in a way that suits their space, whether renting or living in homes without existing wiring.” The devices integrate with Ring's subscriptions: basic Ring Protect for cloud storage and alerts for people, packages, and vehicles; the $20-per-month Ring AI Pro unlocks AI video descriptions, searchable video history by terms like “bike” or “truck,” and beta Familiar Faces recognition. Users concerned about privacy can opt for plans without AI or disable certain features.
