Ruto reveals plan to establish private laboratory on his farm

President William Ruto announced plans to build a private laboratory on one of his farms, with scientific equipment already en route to Kenya.

President William Ruto made the announcement on Thursday, May 14, during the award of university charters to the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and the Kenya Medical Research Institute at State House in Nairobi.

Ruto stated that the equipment for the laboratory is already on its way. He emphasised the importance of research for the nation's future, saying it should be at the centre of development efforts to improve knowledge and address health challenges.

The president also praised the elevation of the two institutions to university status. He urged higher learning institutions to prioritise research and innovation to help Kenya share expertise regionally.
