أعلن الرئيس ويليام روتو عن خطط لبناء مختبر خاص في إحدى مزارعه، مؤكداً أن المعدات العلمية في طريقها بالفعل إلى كينيا.

كشف الرئيس ويليام روتو عن هذا الإعلان يوم الخميس الموافق 14 مايو، وذلك خلال مراسم منح الميثاق الجامعي لكل من معهد كينيا المتقدم للعلوم والتكنولوجيا ومعهد كينيا للبحوث الطبية في قصر الرئاسة بنيروبي.

وأشار روتو إلى أن معدات المختبر في طريقها بالفعل إلى البلاد. كما شدد على أهمية البحث العلمي لمستقبل الأمة، مؤكداً أنه يجب أن يكون في قلب جهود التنمية لتحسين المعرفة ومعالجة التحديات الصحية.

وأشاد الرئيس أيضاً بترقية المؤسستين إلى مستوى جامعي، وحث مؤسسات التعليم العالي على إعطاء الأولوية للبحث والابتكار لمساعدة كينيا على مشاركة خبراتها على المستوى الإقليمي.
