Amandeep from Sonipat, Haryana, fulfilled his vow by clearing the UPSC exam on his fourth attempt and securing the 731st rank. He had declared he would marry only after becoming an IAS officer. The family is celebrating, and his uncle said marriage discussions will now proceed.
Amandeep, a resident of Sonipat in Haryana, has secured the 731st rank in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2025. This marks his fourth attempt. He had told his family, 'I will only marry when I become an IAS officer.' Now, his dream has come true.
The family is filled with joy. Celebrations included playing drums at home and distributing sweets. Relatives and neighbors offered congratulations. Amandeep's uncle Satish Kumar, an SDO in the irrigation department, said, 'Now that Amandeep's dream is fulfilled, marriage talks will also proceed.' Satish Kumar noted that Amandeep was always serious about studies and spent little time with the family even when home.
Amandeep's success also fulfills the dream of his late grandfather Sultan Singh, who wanted his grandson to become a senior officer. Amandeep said, 'Grandfather would have been very happy.' During preparation, he studied 13-14 hours daily. Currently, he is posted as a workshop officer in the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in Arunachal Pradesh and balanced his job with studies.
Learning from failures, he improved his strategy. Advising youth, Amandeep said, 'Patience, discipline, and consistent hard work are essential for exams like UPSC. One should not fear failure.' His story inspires young people in Sonipat.
