The St. Louis Blues have promoted assistant general managers Ryan Miller and Tim Taylor to co-general manager roles with their American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds. The change follows the departure of previous GM Kevin Maxwell to another NHL club. Miller and Taylor will retain their duties with the Blues while taking on added responsibilities in Springfield.
The St. Louis Blues announced the leadership shift for the Springfield Thunderbirds on a permanent basis. This restructuring comes immediately after Kevin Maxwell left the GM position for an opportunity elsewhere in the NHL. Both Miller and Taylor, already serving as Blues assistant general managers, will now share oversight of the AHL team's operations. Taylor will handle player personnel matters, while Miller takes charge of contract negotiations, compliance, and various hockey operations functions. Miller, 42, has been with the Blues since 2010, starting as director of hockey administration and rising to assistant general manager in 2020. A Colorado native, he holds a criminal justice degree from the University of Dayton and studied law at the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law. His responsibilities include ensuring compliance with the collective bargaining agreement and salary cap, as well as preparing for potential salary arbitration cases. Taylor, 57, joined the Blues in 2011 as director of player development before advancing to his current roles. During his playing career, he won Stanley Cups with Detroit in 1997 and Tampa Bay in 2004. He also claimed an AHL scoring title with the Adirondack Red Wings in 1993-94.
