The Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia (SFC) has disclosed adjustments to the maximum tariffs for the Seguro Obligatorio de Accidentes de Tránsito (SOAT) effective in 2026. These changes reflect a 4.9% decrease in claims between 2024 and 2025, along with moderate increases based on the UVT variation. Tariffs vary by vehicle category, with 5.17% adjustments for some and 0.38% for others.

The Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia (SFC) released adjustments to the maximum SOAT tariffs for 2026, based on data submitted by insurers. Between 2024 and 2025, claims decreased by 4.9% in the insured vehicle fleet, which grew 7% to about 10.6 million policies. The number of affected individuals per 100 policies fell from 9.3% to 8.2%, though the average cost per victim rose from 2.6 million pesos to 2.8 million, an increase of nearly 179,000 pesos.

Tariffs for the 14 risk-differential categories, per Decree 2497 of 2022 as amended by Decree 2312 of 2023, adjust by 5.17% in line with the Unidad de Valor Tributario (UVT) variation. For the remaining 50% of the vehicle fleet, the increase is about 0.38%, following the SFC's technical and financial review.

Specific tariffs include: motorcycles under 100 cubic centimeters at 256,300 pesos (5.17% increase); motorcycles between 100 and 200 cubic centimeters at 343,500 pesos (5.17%); motorcycles over 200 cubic centimeters at 761,500 pesos (0.38%); taxis and minibuses at 282,100 pesos (5.17%); family cars under 1,500 cubic centimeters at 447,300 pesos (0.38%); and pickup trucks under 2,500 cubic centimeters at 792,900 pesos (0.38%). These incorporate contributions to the Administradora de los Recursos del Sistema General de Seguridad Social en Salud (Adres).

The SFC stressed recommendations to avoid fraud when purchasing SOAT, such as using verifiable official channels on its website, contacting the call center at (+57) 601 307 8042 or the toll-free line 01 8000 120 100, and verifying intermediary authorizations through its online system. It advised against depositing money into personal accounts without prior verification.
