Teen faces felony murder charges in Ocala crash killing couple

A 17-year-old driver has been charged with two counts of felony murder after allegedly fleeing a robbery and colliding with a couple celebrating a birthday in Ocala, Florida.

Estiben Garcia Luis faces the charges in the deaths of Charles Duncan, 77, and Lynn Duncan. Authorities say the crash occurred on May 8 when Garcia Luis and another person fled a robbery at the Ocala SportsPlex in a Ford Mustang.

The Mustang ran a stop sign and hit the Duncans' Ford Explorer at the intersection of SW 38th Street and SW 67th Avenue Road. Both victims were taken to a hospital, where they later died.

Garcia Luis was arrested last week and is being held without bond at the Marion County Jail. He is charged as an adult because the deaths occurred during the commission of a felony.

The couple's daughter, Rebecca Duncan-Taylor, said her parents were celebrating her father's birthday. She described the incident as senseless and said it has been life-changing for the family. Garcia Luis is scheduled to appear in court on July 21.
