Texas man accused of stalking ex-girlfriend with drone

Cristobal Gonzalez faces stalking charges after allegedly using a drone to monitor his ex-girlfriend's home in El Paso. The woman, a U.S. Border Patrol agent, reported the incident on May 23. Gonzalez told officers he would return to spy on her because laws are pointless.

Deputies responded to a family violence call at a home in the 600 block of Paseo Modesto Drive around 7:30 a.m. on May 23. The victim said Gonzalez followed her there, damaged her property by ripping down a Ring camera, and that she feared for her life. She was wearing her CBP uniform and crying hysterically when officers arrived. Surveillance footage reportedly showed Gonzalez operating a drone to watch the house. Officers found a drone and controller in his car during a search. The pair share a child but are no longer together. Police had visited the home for domestic incidents twice before. Gonzalez was arrested later that day at the 13000 block of Powick Drive. While in custody he said he wanted to plead the Fifth and later stated he would be back because the laws are pointless. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $27,000 bond, which he posted. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 1.
