Texas mother charged with abandoning disabled daughter

A Texas woman faces two felony charges after allegedly leaving her 8-year-old daughter alone at home on two occasions in November 2025.

Phillipi Angela Walker is accused of abandoning the child, who has a mental deficiency, while traveling to Honduras on November 21. Court documents state the girl called police for food after two days and had been surviving on birthday cake. On November 24, Walker reportedly left the girl unattended again to work a shift at the Houston Veterans Affairs Hospital. Deputies found the child alone with three large knives accessible, leading to Walker's arrest at a traffic stop. The woman was not supposed to have custody of the girl under a prior CPS plan. Walker faces two counts of felony child abandonment or endangerment, with her next hearing scheduled for June 29.
