Nestlé, the Swiss food giant behind KitKat, confirmed that thieves made off with a massive shipment of its new chocolate range. The company disclosed the incident to AFP on Saturday, stating that the truck left a factory in central Italy bound for Poland but vanished during transit last week. The vehicle and its 413,793 bars remain unaccounted for, according to Nestlé representatives. A spokesperson remarked, 'We've always encouraged people to have a break with KitKat, but it seems thieves have taken the message too literally and made a break with more than 12 tons of our chocolate.' Nestlé is working closely with local authorities and supply chain partners on the ongoing investigations. The missing stock could disrupt supplies, making KitKats harder to find on shelves before Easter. Officials warn that the bars might appear in unofficial sales channels across European markets. However, each bar carries a unique batch code that allows tracing; scanners can detect matches and alert Nestlé, which will then share evidence with authorities.
