Zero Motorcycles recalls DS, DSR models over twisted brake hose

Zero Motorcycles has issued a recall for certain DS, DSR, DSRP, and DSR/X motorcycles due to a potentially twisted front brake hose. The issue could cause brake fluid leakage and loss of front brake pressure, increasing crash risk. The recall affects 118 motorcycles.

Zero Motorcycles reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that assembly line workers twisted the front brake hose 180 degrees during installation to the ABS hydraulic control unit on affected models. This restricts the hose's flexibility through a p-clamp, potentially rubbing and damaging it, leading to brake fluid leaks and reduced braking performance, according to the company's Part 573 Safety Recall Report. A loss of brake pressure could impair vehicle control and heighten crash risks, Zero stated in the filing. The defect impacts about 30 percent of the affected models, totaling 118 units. Dealers will inspect the hoses for twisting or damage and replace them if necessary, routing the new hoses correctly. Owners can contact Zero using recall number SV-RCL-025-017.2 or NHTSA's hotline at 1-888-327-4236, citing campaign number 26V048.
