Tesla has expanded the geofence for its unsupervised Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, now allowing rides north of the river into downtown for the first time. This builds on the service's launch in January 2026 and was reported by Tesla news account Sawyer Merritt on March 31.

Tesla's autonomous Robotaxi fleet in Austin has completed four months without any collisions caused by its Full Self-Driving software. Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows the streak covers February through spring. Three minor incidents occurred in that period, but all resulted from other drivers hitting stationary vehicles.

The Levitation festival is scheduled to return to Austin from September 10 to 13 with a diverse roster of acts.

More than a month after Tesla announced unsupervised robotaxi operations in Austin, the vast majority of rides continue to include safety drivers.
