Ride-hailing drivers in Kenya have threatened a nationwide strike today over rising fuel costs and low fares set by app companies.

Teachers in several Kenyan counties have intensified protests against the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the government over poor pay, job insecurity for interns and issues with the Social Health Authority (SHA) system. Demonstrations in Busia, Nyandarua and Kisii have halted school operations at the start of the second term. Unions have issued a 14-day ultimatum in Kisii.

The State Wing Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Teachers in the Federal Capital Territory has suspended the ongoing strike by primary and secondary school teachers with immediate effect. The decision follows intervention by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who approved monthly funding to address teachers' demands. Teachers have been directed to resume duties on Monday, April 27.

Activist Francis Awino has filed another petition in court challenging Francis Atwoli's unopposed re-election as COTU-K Secretary General on March 14 in Kisumu. Atwoli confirmed only three petitions exist, dismissing claims of seven and calling them baseless from non-members. Courts have declined to issue orders halting the registration of elected officials.
