A 48-year-old power loom weaver was found dead with multiple injuries on a state highway near Tiruttani in Tiruvallur district.
The deceased has been identified as Rajini, former DMK branch secretary of Pothaturpet near Pallipattu. He had attended a family function at Guruvarajapettai near Arakkonam on Sunday and was returning home on a motorcycle around midnight.
His body was discovered on the Tiruttani-Pothaturpet State Highway near a school. Road users alerted the Tiruttani Police, who sent the body to Tiruttani Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Police have registered a case and an investigation is under way to determine the cause of death.
