Ethiopia's Southern region finance bureau says aid for residents affected by a landslide in Gamo Zone has been streamlined. The bureau held discussions with civil society groups on coordinating victim support.
Addis Ababa, March 9, 2018 (Fana) - The finance bureau of Ethiopia's Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region states that aid for residents hit by a landslide in Gamo Zone has been streamlined. Bureau head of planning and administration Tefere Abate held a meeting with civil society organizations to discuss aid coordination for victims. Tefere noted that government institutions and private entities have been providing various forms of support. The bureau urged civil society groups to play their roles and called on government bodies, private organizations, and others to channel cash and in-kind aid directly. Among those aiding victims are the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary something league, Welaita Zone and town administration volunteers, Southern Ethiopia universities forum, Dilla cluster regional institutions, and the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. Private groups including Belayneh Kindie Group, Aniyar Trading, Abyssinia Bank, Orbi International Ethiopia, and others have contributed cash and material aid.
