The incident occurred a few months ago, amid ongoing marital issues that reportedly began in 2018. Sergeant Ngomane, who was stationed at Tonga police station, was killed just a week after the start of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

Ngomane's previous court appearance was postponed due to the absence of the state prosecutor, leading to the latest delay for further proceedings.
