韓国の国家報勲部は7月20日、2029年大会の開催地に大田市がインビクタス・ゲームズ財団理事会の全会一致で選出されたと発表した。大田市はデンマークのオールボーと米国のサンディエゴを抑えての選出となった。
同財団は、2月の現地視察、5月の申請、6月のロンドンでのプレゼンテーションを経て、韓国側の準備態勢を高く評価した。大会には26カ国から550人の選手、1100人の家族を含む約3000人が参加する見込みである。
インビクタス・ゲームズは、2014年に英国のヘンリー王子によって創設された、傷病を負った軍人や退役軍人のための国際スポーツ大会である。これまで北米、欧州、オーストラリアのみで開催されてきた。
