The horizon year for the Delhi Master Plan 2041 may shift to 2047. The change would align the plan with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India by 2047.
The central government is holding high-level discussions on changing the horizon year after the Delhi Master Plan 2041 missed notification deadlines by five years. A source said, “These plans are prepared with a vision of 20 years. Since the plan has already been delayed by five years now, there are discussions on whether we should change the horizon year to 2047. Nothing has been finalised yet.”
The Delhi Development Authority approved the plan on February 28, 2023, and forwarded it to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on April 13, 2023. Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal stated at the start of this month that a final meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah would complete the process.
The National Capital Region Planning Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday to decide on the NCR Regional Plan-2041.
