Egypt and Montenegro agree to boost economic ties

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Montenegro President Jakov Milatović met in Cairo on Saturday to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and discuss regional issues including the Middle East.

The meeting marked the first presidential visit from Montenegro to Egypt since the two nations established diplomatic relations after Montenegro’s independence in 2006. Al-Sisi welcomed a new parliamentary friendship group and stressed expanding trade and investment opportunities. Milatović highlighted interest in Egyptian expertise in tourism, energy and infrastructure, noting existing Egyptian projects in Montenegro’s tourism sector.

Both leaders reaffirmed support for a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue and rejected any displacement of Palestinians. Al-Sisi called for Gaza’s reconstruction and continued humanitarian aid delivery while urging political resolutions to regional crises. He also condemned unjustified attacks against Arab countries and backed the sovereignty of Gulf Cooperation Council states.

Milatović praised Egypt’s role in promoting peace and invited Al-Sisi to visit Montenegro. The presidents agreed to intensify political consultations and broaden cooperation across multiple sectors.
