Egypt approves EGP 499m financing for National Veal Project

Alaa Farouk announced approval of EGP 499.415m in new financing for 372 beneficiaries under the National Veal Project. The funds will support raising and fattening 7,137 head of livestock. This step forms part of the Decent Life initiative aimed at rural development.

Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, stated that the National Veal Project board approved the financing for small-scale breeders and young graduates. The total financing disbursed since the project launch now stands at EGP 11.172bn, benefiting more than 46,000 people and over 538,500 head of livestock.

Farouk highlighted the project’s role in increasing red meat and dairy supplies while protecting citizens from market volatility. He stressed ongoing field monitoring, veterinary care, and technical support across governorates.

Mostafa El Sayad, Deputy Minister, noted that support includes field inspections, subsidised livestock insurance, and continuous follow-up. Tarek Soliman, Head of the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector, confirmed that applications remain open to eligible participants in all governorates.
