Flooding in Jakarta, which began on Thursday, January 22, 2026, peaked on Friday night with 143 neighborhoods submerged. By Saturday morning, the number had decreased to 90 neighborhoods and 9 roads, according to data from the Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD).
"On Saturday morning, there are still 90 neighborhoods flooded," said Mohamad Yohan, Head of the Disaster Data and Information Center at BPBD DKI Jakarta.
The highest water level is 2.5 meters in Cawang subdistrict, East Jakarta, caused by the overflow of the Ciliwung River. Flood distribution includes 51 neighborhoods in West Jakarta, 25 in East Jakarta, 7 in South Jakarta, and 7 in North Jakarta. For instance, in Cawang, water reaches 80-250 cm, while in Rawa Buaya, West Jakarta, it is 50-120 cm.
Flooded roads include Jl. Daan Mogot KM 13 (20 cm) and Jl. Prepedan Raya (15 cm), all in West Jakarta with depths of 10-30 cm.
Around 1,349 residents have evacuated to 23 locations across 12 subdistricts, mainly in West Jakarta such as Masjid Jami Al Khaeer (28 people) and Masjid Baitul Rahman (177 people). This data is from Friday evening when 114 neighborhoods and 15 roads were affected.
BPBD has deployed personnel to monitor, pump out water, and ensure drainage functions, coordinating with the Water Resources Agency, Public Works Agency, and Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat). The reduction in flooding indicates that mitigation efforts are yielding results, though the inundation still disrupts wide areas.
