The Frankfurt Regional Court has sentenced a 44-year-old man to 14 years in prison for drugging and raping women over more than three years. He was found guilty of multiple attempted murders and aggravated rape, among other charges. Security detention will also be imposed as he poses a danger to the public.

A serial rapist has been sentenced to 14 years in prison in Frankfurt. The Regional Court's verdict includes convictions for multiple attempted murders, aggravated rape, and dangerous bodily injury. It is not yet final. The presiding judge of the grand jury chamber justified the additional order for security detention by stating that the 44-year-old poses a danger to the public. He must also pay five-figure sums to his victims.

The crimes spanned more than three years in the Rhein-Main area as well as in Nuremberg, Göttingen, and Mannheim. The series began in early 2021. Initially, the perpetrator targeted women from his circle of friends, colleagues, and acquaintances whom he trusted. He laced pralines or drinks with sleeping pills to render them unconscious and then administered further substances for deep anesthesia. Two victims had no memory of the incidents and only learned about them through the investigation.

Later, he approached unknown women renting out apartments or rooms. He overpowered them with a cloth soaked in anesthetic. During one rape in Nuremberg, the victim's baby was in the same room. Four women were placed in life-threatening conditions due to the sedation. The perpetrator filmed the abuse lasting hours and shared the recordings with boastful comments in a chat with like-minded individuals.

The last victim was a young scientist from Mannheim who wanted to sublet her apartment. She was unconscious for 12 hours, called the police upon waking, and this led to the perpetrator's arrest nearly three months later.
