Vehicles with red stickers and plates ending in 3 or 4 cannot circulate this Wednesday in Mexico City and neighboring municipalities in the State of Mexico.

The Hoy No Circula program restriction takes effect from 5:00 to 22:00 hours. It applies to vehicles with verification holograms 1 and 2, including foreign vehicles with those characteristics.

The Comisión Ambiental de la Megalópolis confirms that only cars with holograms 00 and 0 are exempt. More than one thousand members of the Policía Auxiliar and Policía Bancaria e Industrial can issue fines in the 16 alcaldías of Mexico City.

The measure also covers 18 municipalities in the State of Mexico such as Ecatepec, Naucalpan de Juárez and Tlalnepantla de Baz. Its goal is to reduce air pollution in the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México.
