Prices for cultural events have risen 55 percent over the past decade, according to an analysis by Zmarta. The increase is nearly twice the rate of inflation.
The comparison points to even larger increases for major festivals such as Sweden Rock and Way Out West. Their festival passes have become almost 70 percent more expensive.
Ticket prices for the largest arena concerts have in several cases more than doubled since 2016. Film and TV services have raised prices at roughly the same pace.
Ola Söderlind, household economist at Zmarta/uScore, says that what was previously seen as high culture, such as Dramaten, is more accessible than in a long time. Price increases for streamed music as well as cinema and theater tickets have been more modest.
