Macroeconomic reform contributes to inflation control, Finance Minister says

Finance Minister Ahmed Shide stated that the implementation of macroeconomic reforms has made a significant contribution to controlling inflation.

In Addis Ababa on July 27, 2026, Finance Minister Ahmed Shide addressed a discussion held by the Ministry of Finance and relevant institutions on the performance of the 2018 budget year and plans for the 2019 budget year.

Ahmed Shide said the macroeconomic reform implementation has been highly successful. He highlighted its strong performance particularly in controlling inflation, increasing domestic revenue and strengthening cooperation with development partners.

He also noted that 2018 was a successful year for starting debt repayments under the debt restructuring agreement reached with international lenders.
