The Ministry of Finance released 2026 national budget execution data through May. Mines and Energy, Congress and Education posted the highest rates.
Through May, Mines and Energy reached 43.4% execution, followed by Congress at 43.2% and Education at 39.6%. The overall average across all sectors stood at 31.3%. The lowest performers were Planning at 20.1%, Transport at 13.2% and the Presidency at 3.5%.
Obligations excluding debt service totaled 142.7 trillion pesos, equal to 31.3% of the budget. In May, 7.6 trillion pesos were added due to the economic emergency from flooding in eight departments.
Debt service paid in May reached 44.5 trillion pesos. The Ministry of Finance noted that this amount confirms compliance with the financial commitments scheduled for the start of the year.
