ノーベル平和賞受賞の日本被団協は、2027年6月の総会で組織の存続をめぐる投票を行うことを決めた。被爆者の高齢化が進む中、団体は将来の方針を議論してきた。
東京で開催された2日間の総会には、全国30の都道府県から約90人の被爆者らが出席した。
94歳の田中熙巳共同代表は「核兵器廃絶の運動を自分たちで作っていく必要がある」と述べ、組織名や会員にこだわらず夢を諦めない限り団体は残ると語った。
被団協はノーベル平和賞の賞金約1億5000万円を活用し、東京と広島に受賞記念の碑を建立することを決めた。長崎平和公園には既に同様の碑が設置されている。
また、設立70周年にあたる今年8月10日に長崎で声明を発表する予定だ。
