One dead as police rescue kidnapped Ekiti worshippers

The Ekiti State Police Command has rescued worshippers abducted from Christ Apostolic Church in Eda-Oniyo on April 28, 2026. One victim died in captivity during the ordeal.

The successful rescue followed sustained intelligence-led operations involving the Nigeria Police Force, the military, other security agencies, the Amotekun Corps, local hunters, and the Ekiti State Government.

Rescued victims have been taken to hospital for medical examination and treatment. Commissioner of Police CP Falade Adegoroye Micheal commended the dedication of all security stakeholders and the support of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

Efforts are ongoing to arrest the perpetrators. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to the nearest police station or the command’s emergency number 08062335577.
