Two Polri officers died in a traffic accident involving a TNI service truck in Cisarua, West Bandung Regency, on January 25, 2026. DPR member Rajiv from the NasDem faction urges a thorough investigation to ensure accountability and justice. West Java Police Chief Irjen Rudi Setiawan states the victims will receive posthumous promotions from the National Police Chief.
The fatal accident occurred on Jalan Tugu 2, Kampung Cimeta, Desa Tugu Mukti, Cisarua Subdistrict, West Bandung Regency, West Java. It involved a TNI service truck from Batalyon Arhanud 3 with license plate 6719-III driven by Muhamad Ritwan. Two Polri personnel, Aiptu Hendra Kurniawan and Aipda M. Jerry Sonconery from Polres Cimahi serving as Bhabinkamtibmas, died when their motorcycle was crushed between two TNI trucks. They were heading to a landslide disaster site in Desa Pasirlangu, Cisarua Subdistrict.
West Java Police Chief Irjen Pol. Rudi Setiawan explained that the accident started when the front TNI truck stopped suddenly, while the rear one suffered brake failure, sandwiching the victims' motorcycle. Rudi's statement was made in Bandung on January 25, 2026. Both victims were declared fallen in the line of duty and buried, one that night and the other the next morning. They will also receive a one-level posthumous promotion from the National Police Chief.
DPR RI member from the NasDem faction, Rajiv, representing West Java II electoral district, expressed deep condolences. "I extend my deepest condolences over the passing of the two Polri personnel who were carrying out humanitarian duties. May their families be granted strength," Rajiv said on January 26, 2026. Rajiv urged a thorough investigation in accordance with legal mechanisms to clarify the incident. "Every incident causing loss of life must be handled carefully and professionally, so all parties get clarity and justice according to applicable rules," he added.
Rajiv emphasized that the process aims to ensure accountability and legal certainty, not to corner any party. He urged all sides to entrust the handling to authorized authorities for an objective and transparent process, fostering unity among state apparatus. Although sources differ on the exact date—January 24 or 25—the core facts remain consistent regarding TNI and Polri involvement in disaster response.
