Record heat followed by thunderstorm in Malmö

Malmö residents sought the sea during a hot weekend when temperatures reached 35.1 degrees.

On Saturday the temperature in Malmö reached 35.1 degrees. It was the warmest day in the city since measurements began in 1917.

A thunderstorm followed on Sunday morning. According to SMHI at least 300 to 400 lightning strikes were recorded in half an hour.

Many residents chose to seek coolness by the sea during the tropical weekend.
