Comedy writer Sebastian Hotz, known as "El Hotzo", has called his confession of cheating in relationships a mistake. In December 2024, he detailed his infidelity and lies on X. In an interview with "Spiegel", he explains why he wouldn't make the statement today.
Sebastian Hotz, known as satirist "El Hotzo", has described his public confession of infidelity in relationships as a mistake in an interview with "Spiegel". At the end of 2024, he wrote on platform X: "I was repeatedly unfaithful in relationships in recent years and subsequently covered up my actions with increasingly complicated constructs of lies and discredited the credibility of my (ex-)partners."
Hotz, from Berlin, admitted that in his 20s he behaved "like an asshole". The post came amid private pressure and a feeling of needing to clear things up. "So I wouldn't write this statement like that today or at all, because I believe this publicity hasn't helped anyone process it," he told "Spiegel".
He underestimated the impact and finds the public reaction absurd, as his private life shouldn't take up so much space. Today, he has been in a relationship for almost two years and is happier than ever. "I believe if all that was necessary to get to this point, and if it has provided some satisfaction to those I hurt, then that's how it is."
