Spring weather with plus temperatures and sun in Sweden this weekend

Meteorological spring has arrived in much of Sweden for the weekend. Double-digit temperatures and plenty of sun are forecast, especially in the south up to 14 degrees. Meteorologists warn of cool nights and a change afterward.

After a cold winter, the weekend of March 20–22, 2026, brings spring temperatures across much of Sweden. Niklas Einevik, meteorologist at SMHI, says southern Sweden will be dominated by high pressure with weak winds. “It will be a lot of sun and warm around 10 degrees during the day, but there are also cool nights and mornings with frost and a bit below zero,” he states. Most sun and warmth are expected in Götaland and Svealand, while Norrland sees around 5 degrees and more clouds due to low-pressure influence east of the mountains. Spring is advancing north along Norrland's coasts, notes Einevik, who urges caution with fires due to grass fire risk in the sunniest, warmest areas. Lasse Rydqvist at Klart calls it “the year's first real spring weekend.” He forecasts 10–14 degrees in eastern Sweden including Stockholm, Uppsala, Södermanland, Östergötland, and Småland coast, though slightly windy on coasts. Sunday stays sunny in the south, cooler in Norrland with more clouds. The mountain regions get snow and rain, colder than elsewhere. Nights are chilly in typical March weather. The forecast changes quickly: a low pressure from the Norwegian Sea arrives by Tuesday with rain, snow, and wind. “This weekend is the first really good one we've had in a while,” says Rydqvist after previous variable weather.

Meteorological spring has officially arrived in parts of Skåne, Blekinge, and Gotland after seven days with daily average temperatures above zero. Despite an unusually cold winter, the timing is normal. Temperatures are rising in the south with sunny weather expected.

After a long cold spell, warmer temperatures and precipitation are expected in southern Sweden over the weekend. SMHI warns of risks such as slippery roads and frostbite in the north. Meteorologists note a shift from high pressure to low pressure.

After a few days of spring warmth, a weather shift hits Sweden, with wind and cooler temperatures approaching from the Norwegian Sea. Meteorologists warn it may feel like autumn, with temperatures around 4–9 degrees in most parts of the country. The warmth lasts only a few more days before low-pressure systems take over.

The forecast for Christmas Eve points to bright sun and crisp minus degrees across almost all of Sweden, but no snow is expected in the southern parts. The snow line runs high up in the country, potentially making it the greenest Christmas since 2020. Meteorologist Lasse Rydkvist predicts frost that could add a white touch to the bare ground.

Sweden faces stormy weather at the turn of the year with snowfall and strong winds, especially in central and eastern regions. Meteorologist Therese Fougman from SMHI warns of potentially troublesome conditions in Östergötland and Gotland, where an orange warning has already been issued. The warnings apply from New Year's Eve into the new year.

As remnants of Storm Anna bring continued snowfall into mid-week, a new low-pressure system threatens heavy snow in western regions, while SMHI forecasts high pressure bringing nationwide cold and a potential ice day over the weekend.

The forecast for Christmas Eve points to mild weather without snow in most of Sweden. Meteorologists warn of continued warm and wet December conditions, though the north has seen snowfall. A small chance exists for snow in the south if cold air moves southward.
