After Storm "Elli" brought snow drifts, high water, accidents, and transport chaos to Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg on Friday—as previously reported—disruptions continue, particularly in rail services.
Deutsche Bahn (DB) reports outages and delays in regional trains until around January 12. Long-distance services in northern Germany, initially suspended Saturday, are gradually resuming but remain halted on routes like Copenhagen-Hamburg and Westerland/Kiel-Hamburg. Key affected regional lines include:
- RE6 (Westerland-Hamburg-Altona): Resumed, possible delays
- RB62 (Heide-Itzehoe): 2-hour schedule
- RE7/RE70 (Flensburg/Kiel-Hamburg): Some with transfers in Neumünster
Nordbahn has resumed most lines post-inspections but faces west coast restrictions. Outages persist on RB63 (Büsum-Heide-Neumünster) and RB64 (Husum-Bad St. Peter-Ording). Erixx reports normal operations; AKN expects limits on A1, A2, A3 (no 10-minute A1 frequency on Jan 12). NEG notes delays on RB65 (Niebüll-Dagebüll) and RB66 (to Denmark).
Weather warnings for heavy snow and gusts have lifted in most areas but remain on the west coast. Precipitation expected overnight into Sunday may turn to rain in Lower Saxony and Hamburg, with severe weekend frost ahead.
