A passerby alerted police just after 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening after spotting a suspicious object partially hidden in bushes near the shoreline on Ribersborg beach, also known as Ribban, in Malmö. "But they cannot dismiss it as harmless," said Leif Fransson, police spokesperson. The bomb squad arrived on site around 11 p.m.

By 23:30, technicians had determined the object was not live. According to police, it was a "plastic toy-like" item, and the all-clear was given. The area was reopened, confirmed Elin Cavalli, duty officer at police Region South.
