A suspected dangerous object was found on Ribersborg beach in Malmö on Wednesday evening, prompting police to cordon off the area. The National Bomb Squad was called in after an initial photo assessment and later declared it harmless. The operation ended at 23:30.
A passerby alerted police just after 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening after spotting a suspicious object partially hidden in bushes near the shoreline on Ribersborg beach, also known as Ribban, in Malmö. Police cordoned off the area while the National Bomb Squad conducted an initial assessment from a photo.
"But they cannot dismiss it as harmless," said Leif Fransson, police spokesperson. The bomb squad arrived on site around 11 p.m.
By 23:30, technicians had determined the object was not live. According to police, it was a "plastic toy-like" item, and the all-clear was given. The area was reopened, confirmed Elin Cavalli, duty officer at police Region South.
